Death benefit insurance

Because it is a relief for relatives

As statutory death benefits have not been available since 2004, many members wish to ease the financial burden on their relatives in the event of their death.

What do you want your own funeral to be like? And how much will it cost? The amount varies depending on the type of funeral.

Through our partner, → Hannoversche, we offer not only good cover in the event of death, but also an additional member bonus for long-term care under the Plus tariff.

Your benefit as a member: a €500 trade union bonus for IGBCE members on the Plus tariff.

The benefits of death benefit insurance

In the event of death, the funeral insurance pays out a fixed, guaranteed sum insured plus any surpluses generated, once the waiting period has expired. In the best-case scenario, the bereaved are completely relieved of any financial burden. In any case, you receive lifelong insurance cover.

Particularly high sum insured

The purpose of funeral insurance is to cover the costs of a funeral. These costs usually range from €5,000 to €10,000. The sum insured should be at least within this range. If you also wish to cover the cost of grave maintenance, the sum insured should be set higher accordingly. You can choose a sum insured of up to €25,000.

Premium amount: A long-term decision pays off.

The premium amount depends on the insured person’s age at the start of the policy and the desired sum insured. You can take out a policy from the age of 40, and the premium payment period can be freely agreed upon, ranging from age 65 up to a maximum of 95: the younger the insured person and the longer the premium payment period, the lower the premium.

Certificate

Under the Plus tariff, as an insured person, you will receive a one-off payment of €500 if you are assessed as requiring care level 3 or higher before reaching the age of 60.

This extended benefit applies to members of the IGBCE trade union and their life partners.
